Stephanie first came to St.Maarten in 1977. Tihanyi brings to her work strong images that are hallucinogenic and surreal in quality, a primevalness where there is a sensual union with nature and perceiving of the world through symbolism, feeling and intuition.
This self-taught artist has worked in watercolor and oil. She currently uses acrylics and has begun self study in hand-cut relief print-making techniques such as lino and wood-cut.
She has exhibited work in Philipsburg, Marigot and Grand case, London, Antigua, Nevis, Santo Domingo, Anguilla and New York.
Tihanyi works from her studio in Grand case, St. Martin.
