Patrick Poivre de La Fréta ou le Plaisir de vivre

Patrick poivre de La Freta ou le plaisir de vivre…

Patrick Poivre de La Freta has passed away this morning at the hospital of Pointe a Pitre, Guadeloupe.

Patrick Poivre de La Fréta It is the ultimate irony of the artist that he chose the day of the Art Lovers exposition to leave us... It is, without a doubt, so that we could honor him together tonight and thank him for his generosity, for having been the secretary of Art Lovers for three years.

Patrick should have never been born and never should have died either:
During labor, his father chose to keep his wife alive rather than the child, but Pitou held on to life from that moment on, never stopping until this very morning, March 16th.

It wasn’t a guardian angel that looked down on him in his crib, but a guardian devil, who made sure that Patrick took advantage of life, beyond good or bad.
Halfway between a Sacha Guitry, an Oscar Wilde and a Gainsbourg, PPP represented the absolute artist, making his life a work of art for all audiences. A flamboyant homosexual and proud of it, he shared his passion with all.

He loved contrasts:

He took all the risks, but knew how to think things over
He worked a lot, but always as a dilettante
An aristocrat, he dreamt of being a sailor
He was a painter, but called himself a writer.

His pictorial and literary works are rich and will continue to feed us for many more years.
Provocative artist and author of a dozen novels and an astonishing autobiography, he succeeded in living from his pen after living from his brushes. How many can say they have achieved as much?

We miss you already Patrick: for your culture, your humor, your talent and generosity.
Eternal yet volatile, you leave us today to seduce God, the devil, and most definitely their respective sons...
Thankfully, we still have your work and philosophy to continue to live without you.
Thank you PPP
